About Impact Zero

Impact Zero is building the circular economy by empowering passionate people to bring business and community-led climate solutions to life.

Our key initiatives include:

  • Go-to-Market Sprints - training circular economy founders how to commercialize their idea through market validation and sales training

  • Regional Circular Innovation Accelerator - flagship 7-month regional program to commercialize a business idea, build their product, and teach founders how to grow their business in year-1

  • Circular Marketplace -  connecting circular businesses to potential customers and supporters

Founded in February 2020, Impact Zero has been in startup mode. With one director’s position available, we are looking to add diversity, expertise and experience to our Board of Directors to support the organization’s continued growth, evolution & impact.

Who We’re Looking For 

We are looking for individuals living in Canada – preferably in the GTA – who are as excited about the circular economy mission as we are, and who have the following skill set:

  • Accounting – if you have the accounting background to lead our Finance Committee and take the role of Treasurer

Successful candidates will join a group of passionate, committed professionals for a minimum term of 3 years with the option to renew.  You can read about our current Board here.

In addition to the desired criteria set out above, all Board Directors must meet the minimum requirements under Part 9 of the Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act.

Director Responsibilities:

  1. Actively participating in  Board meetings and lead the Finance board committee. The Board typically meets 4 - 6 times per year. Committee meetings take place in addition to regular Board meetings.

  2. Working in good faith and open communication with fellow board members and staff to achieve the organization’s goals.

The Finance Committee:

  1. Develops and maintains the organization’s budget and financial planning process 

  2. Prepares and presents financial updates to the Board

  3. Prepares and presents financial statements to the Board 

  4. Maintains financial records 

  5. Maintains line of sight and compliance with legal reporting requirements; and 

  6. Develops and maintains internal controls and policies

Treasurer Responsibilities:

  1. Lead Finance Committee and execute on Finance Committee mandate (see above)

  2. Own quarterly and annual financial statement development, analysis, and filing

  3. Manage relationship with external accountant, if applicable

Application & Selection Process

  • The Governance Committee, together with the Executive Director, will review applications, conduct interviews with qualified candidates, and recommend top candidates to the full Board of Directors.

  • The Board of Directors will vote on candidates put forward by the Governance Committee.
